Syracuse, N.Y. – The Le Moyne College women's tennis team extended its winning streak to three matches with a 9-0 victory over The College of Saint Rose on Tuesday afternoon in Northeast-10 Conference action at the Skytop Tennis Courts.
With the victory, Le Moyne College takes a 2-1 lead over Saint Rose in the fourth year of the year-long "Upstate Challenge" between the two institutions.
In doubles action, freshmen
Rithika Vajjiravelu (Chennai, Tamil Nadu/Kendriya Vidyalaya) and
Amica Benoit-Limosani (Mont-Saint-Hilaire, Quebec/Collège Saint-Maurice) teamed for an 8-2 win over Isabela Cubillos and Paige Southwick at the top spot. At second doubles, sophomore
Christina Perry (Endwell, N.Y./Seton Catholic) and senior
Jessica Geary (Cicero, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse) also registered an 8-2 win over Megan Stacklum and KeriAnn Mahoney. Freshman
Autumn Hogan (Rochester, N.Y./Aquinas Institute) and senior
Margaret LaFleur (Darien Center, N.Y./Attica) recorded an 8-4 win over Alanna Bergmann and Maria Malafronte at third doubles.
Vajjiravelu improved to 5-2 in conference action with a 6-0, 6-1 victory over Cubillos at first singles, while Benoit-Limosani upped her record to 5-1 by defeating Southwick at the second spot with back-to-back scores of 6-0. Senior
Dominique Canale (Oswego, N.Y./Oswego/Arcadia) registered a 6-1, 6-1 win at third singles over Stacklum for her third straight conference victory, while Perry recorded a 6-2, 6-0 victory at the fourth spot over Mahoney. At fifth singles, Geary posted a 6-1, 6-0 win over Bergmann to pick up her third NE-10 victory, while Hogan also tallied a 6-1, 6-0 victory at sixth singles over Malafronte for her fifth win of the season.
Le Moyne (5-5, 4-3 NE-10) continues its seven-match homestand on Saturday against Saint Michael's College at 11:00 a.m.
