Chris Davitt (Delmar, N.Y./Bethlehem) finished in second place to lead the Le Moyne College men's cross country team to a fifth-place finish at Roberts Wesleyan College's Harry F. Anderson Invitational on Saturday morning at the Matt St. James Cross Country Trails. Freshman
Chloe Hanson (Saugerties, N.Y./Saugerties) placed 13th to lead the women's team to a sixth-place finish.
In the men's team competition, the host Redhawks cruised to a first-place finish with 23 points after having three of the top four finishers and five of the top eight. Geneseo took second place for the second straight week with 69 points, while St. Bonaventure University placed third with 155. Following Penn State-Behrend with 160 points, the Dolphins registered 164 points to place fifth. Roberts Wesleyan's Christopher Sims won the race by over 29 seconds with a time of 25:15.7.
Davitt completed the eight-kilometer course in 25:44.4 to finish in second place. Freshman
Benjamin Dertinger (Webster, N.Y./Webster Schroeder) was the Dolphins' next finisher with a time of 26:46.7 to place 16th, while senior
Nick Taylor (Endicott, N.Y./Maine-Endwell) gave the Dolphins three finishers in the top 10-percent of the race by finishing 22nd with a time of 26:51.3. Sophomore
Kenny Barrett (Lagrangeville, N.Y./Lady of Lourdes) finished 61st in 28:04.2 and freshman
Matthew Sinnenberg (Burnt Hills, N.Y./Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake) registered a time of 28:56.7 to place 90th and round out Le Moyne's scorers.
The Roberts Wesleyan women also cruised to a first-place finish in the team competition with 23 points after having the top three finishers and five of the top nine. Like the men, Geneseo placed second for the second straight week with 80 points. St. Bonaventure tallied 119 points to place third. The Dolphins totaled 211 points to place sixth in the 19-team field. Roberts Wesleyan's Ashley Watson completed the course first in 18:32.3 to win by over 10 seconds.
Hanson was Le Moyne's top finisher for her first time after covering the five-kilometer course in 19:39.6 to place 13th. Classmate
Maggie Casey (Pittsford, N.Y./Pittsford Mendon) was 2.5 seconds behind and finished 14th. Senior
Mya Walters (Cazenovia, N.Y./Cazenovia) placed 43rd in 20:42.2 as the team's third finisher, while sophomore
Brianna Walker (Webster, N.Y./Webster Schroeder) was 82nd in 21:36.5. Freshman
Rebecca White (Fayetteville, N.Y./Fayetteville-Manlius) rounded out the team's scorers by placing 113th in 22:27.4.
Following a weekend off, the Dolphins are back in action on Saturday, October 5 at Lehigh University's Paul Short Run. The men race at 1:45 p.m. and the women start at 2:30 p.m.
