WOMEN’S CROSS COUNTRY PLACES THIRD, MEN SIXTH AT HAMILTON SHORT COURSE INVITATIONAL

Clinton, N.Y. – Senior Brittney Mack (Poestenkill, N.Y./Averill Park) finished in second place to lead the Le Moyne College women's cross country team to a third-place finish at the Hamilton College Short Course Invitational on Saturday morning at the Hamilton College Golf Course. Junior Chris Davitt (Delmar, N.Y./Bethlehem) also placed second to lead the men's team to a sixth-place finish.

The host Continentals won the women's team competition with 33 points after having five of the top 12 finishers. Ithaca had five of the top 11 finishers to finish in second place with 40 points. The Dolphins tallied 69 points to place third in the eight-team field. Hamilton's Grace Heller crossed the finish line first in 14:44.2.

Mack completed the four-kilometer course in 15:03.6 to finish second among the 107 competitors. Sophomore Eva Keohane (Brewerton, N.Y./Central Square) was the next finisher with a time of 15:07.8, the best time by any of the 26 sophomores in the race. Sophomore Haleigh Pascual (Manlius, N.Y./Fayetteville-Manlius) was the team's third finisher with a time of 15:57.4 to place 14th, while freshman Samantha Pellegrini (Loudonville, N.Y./Colonie) was 26th in 16:19.6. Junior Jordan Sloan (Central Square, N.Y./Bishop Grimes) rounded out Le Moyne's scorers by placing 37th in 16:36.2.

On the men's side, Hamilton captured the team competition with 48 points after having four of the top 12 finishers. Ithaca had five of the top 16 finishers to place second with 53 points, one point ahead of third-place SUNY Delhi. The Dolphins recorded 148 points to place sixth. Kobie Lane from Delhi placed first in 15:23.4.

Davitt navigated the five-kilometer course in 15:38.5 to finish second by over seven seconds. Junior Griffin Klein (Fair Haven, N.Y./Red Creek) gave the Dolphins two of the top nine finishers with a time of 16:11.2. Freshman Ben Zinger (Liverpool, N.Y./Liverpool) crossed the line 59th in 17:32.0, while junior Dom Battaglia (Liverpool, N.Y./Liverpool) was 62nd in 17:36.9. Senior Mahamadou Jagana (Bronx, N.Y./DeWitt Clinton) turned in a time of 17:37.2 to place 64th and round out Le Moyne's scorers.

The Dolphins return to action on Saturday at the Division II/III Challenge hosted by Kutztown University. The men start at 10:00 a.m. and the women follow at 11:00 a.m.
