Kutztown, Pa. - Senior
Brittney Mack (Poestenkill, N.Y./Averill Park) took fifth place to lead the Le Moyne College women's cross country team to a fifth-place finish at the Division II/III challenge on Saturday morning at Kutztown University. Senior
Chris Davitt (Delmar, N.Y./Bethlehem) took a 14th-place finish lead the men to a 10th-place finish.
The Stonehill Skyhawks took first while earning 24 points and claiming three of the top four places on the day in the women's race. Malone's Rachel Wentworth placed first with a time of 23:31.3 and led her team to a second place finish with 53 points. West Chester placed third its 100-point finish. The Dolphins and Kutztown both recorded 126 points, but the Bears claimed the tiebreaker for fourth place and the Dolphins posted a fifth-place finish.
Mack completed the six-kilometer race with a time of 23:47.0. Sophomore
Eva Keohane (Brewerton, N.Y./Central Square) finished just behind Mack in sixth place with a time of 23:53.0. Sophomore
Haleigh Pascual (Manlius, N.Y./Fayetteville-Manlius) was the team's third finisher with a time of 25:32.5 to place 35th overall, while junior
Jordan Sloan (Central Square, N.Y./Bishop Grimes) came in at 26:12.7 to place 49th. Freshman
Samantha Pellegrini (Loudonville, N.Y./Colonie) finished 52nd with a time of 26:19.7 to round up Le Moyne's scorers.
On the men's side, Malone captured 30 points to take the win, while having three of the top four finishers. Stonehill, which scored 38 points, earned second and was led by Lucas Taxter, who completed the course with a time of 26:29.9. Southern Connecticut State placed third with 102 points. The Dolphins scored 250 points to finish 10th.
Davitt recorded a time of 27:08.2, a 14th-place finish, on the eight-kilometer course. Junior
Griffin Klein (Fair Haven, N.Y./Red Creek) finished second for the Dolphins, and 42nd overall, with a time of 28:35.9. Freshman
Ben Zinger (Liverpool, N.Y./Liverpool) crossed the line 80th at 30:26.0, while junior
Dom Battaglia (Liverpool, N.Y./Liverpool) finished 90th crossing the line at 31:04.3. To finish out Le Moyne's scorers for the day, freshman
Paul Stannard (Camillus, N.Y./West Genesee) finished 94th with a time of 31:11.7.
The Dolphins return action in two weeks at the Cazenovia College Invitational on Saturday Sep. 29. The women go off at 11:00 a.m. and the men start at 12:00 p.m.
