Haleigh Pascual (Manlius, N.Y./Fayetteville-Manlius) finished in second place and sophomore
Dom Battaglia (Liverpool, N.Y./Liverpool) placed sixth to lead the Le Moyne College women's and men's cross country teams to victories on Saturday at the Cazenovia College Homecoming Invitational at Fenner Fields.
The Dolphin women tallied the top five scorers to claim first place with 15 points for the second straight year. Cazenovia was second with 64 points and Morrisville State was third with 96 points. SUNY Jefferson's Christina Platt crossed the finish line first in 18:39.5.
For the men, the Dolphin had five of the top 15 finishers to place first as a team with 45 points. Mohawk Valley Community College placed second with 62 points and Onondaga Community College was third with 80 points. Mohawk Valley's Dakota Corney won the men's race in 30:05.7.
Pascual was the first Dolphin to finish after coving the 4.5-kilometer course in 19:15.6. In her final race in her hometown, senior
Jeanette Cudney (Cazenovia, N.Y./Cazenovia) was a fraction of a second behind and also posted a time of 19:15.6. Sophomore
Siara Clos (Syracuse, N.Y./Onondaga) finished in fourth place in 19:15.7, while freshman
Eva Keohane (Brewerton, N.Y./Central Square) was fifth in 19:15.9. Freshman
Vanessa Eberhard (Liverpool, N.Y./Liverpool) rounded out the team's scorers with a time of 19:16.0 to place sixth.
Battaglia navigated the eight-kilometer course in 30:18.8 to be the first Dolphins to cross the line. Junior
Griffin Klein (Fair Haven, N.Y./Red Creek) was the next finisher with a time of 30:20.6, while sophomore
Chris Davitt (Delmar, N.Y./Bethlehem) was right behind him with a time of 30:20.8. Senior
Sean Beney (Camillus, N.Y./West Genesee) gave the Dolphins four straight finishers by placing ninth in 30:21.2. Junior
Kevin Penaloza (Elmhurst, N.Y./Cristo Rey) rounded out Le Moyne's scorers by placing 15th in 31:13.0.
The Dolphins complete the regular season portion of their schedule on Saturday at the Hamilton Invitational. The women's race starts at 11:00 a.m. and the men follow at 11:45 a.m.
