CROSS COUNTRY TEAMS COMPETE AT UB STAMPEDE INVITE

Amherst, N.Y. – Senior Sean Beney (Camillus, N.Y./West Genesee) placed 18t to lead the Le Moyne College men's cross country team to a sixth-place finish on Friday morning at the University at Buffalo's Stampede Invitational at Audubon Golf Course. Freshman Eva Keohane (Brewerton, N.Y./Central Square) finished 36th to lead the women's team to a seventh-place finish.
 
In the men's race, the University of Pittsburgh won the team competition with 33 points after having five of the top 11 finishers. McMaster placed second with 40 points with four of the top nine finishers, while the host Bulls were third with 78 points. The Dolphins tallied 142 points to land in sixth place.
 
Beney navigated the eight-kilometer course in 25:51.5 to finish in 18th place in the 85-member field. Sophomore Nick Taylor (Endicott, N.Y./Maine-Endwell) was two spots behind in 25:59.3, while classmate Chris Davitt (Delmar, N.Y./Bethlehem) finished in 26:17.8 to place 32nd. Junior Griffin Klein (Fair Haven, N.Y./Red Creek) tallied a 46th-place finish 27:06.1, while freshman Brandon Brusehaber (Orchard Park, N.Y./Orchard Park) recorded a time of 29:42.0 to place 73rd and round out Le Moyne's scorers.

On the women's side, the University of Connecticut won the team title with 23 points after having five of the top eight scorers. Buffalo recorded 47 points to place second, while the University of Vermont placed third with 77 points. The Dolphins landed in seventh place with 190 points.
 
Keohane, who was Le Moyne's top finisher for the second straight week, completed the six-kilometer course in 23:35.6 to cross the finish line 36th. Freshman Haleigh Pascual (Manlius, N.Y./Fayetteville-Manlius) finished in 24:37.4 to place 49th, while sophomore Siara Clos (Syracuse, N.Y./Onondaga) was four spots back in 24:53.7. Senior Jeanette Cudney (Cazenovia, N.Y./Cazenovia) gave the Dolphins four runners in the top-55 with a time of 25:02.9, while sophomore Jordan Sloan (Central Square, N.Y./Bishop Grimes) placed 56th in 25:04.4 to round out the scorers for the Dolphins.
 
The Dolphins return to action on Saturday, September 23 at the University of Western Ontario Invitational in London, Ontario.
