CROSS COUNTRY TEAMS BOTH PLACE SECOND AT HAMILTON COLLEGE INVITATIONAL

Clinton, N.Y. – Senior Sean Beney (Camillus, N.Y./West Genesee) crossed the finish line first to lead the Le Moyne College men's cross country team to a second-place finish at the Hamilton College Invitational on Saturday afternoon at the Hamilton College Golf Course. Junior Brittney Mack (Poestenkill, N.Y./Averill Park) finished in fourth place to lead the women's team to a fourth-place finish.
 
The host Continentals won the men's team competition with 28 points after having five of the top 10 finishers. Le Moyne had four of the top eight finishers to finish in second place with 39 points. SUNY ESF tallied 77 points to place third, SUNY Poly was fourth with 120 points and Onondaga Community College finished fifth with 144 points.
 
Beney navigated the eight-kilometer course in 25:25.8, an improvement of 4.2 from last year's second-place finish at the event, to top the field by almost five seconds. Sophomore Nick Taylor (Endicott, N.Y./Maine-Endwell) registered a time of 25:56.4, over 42 seconds faster than last year, to place fourth. Sophomore Chris Davitt (Delmar, N.Y./Bethlehem) was one spot back in 26:10.7, 15 places and almost 47 seconds faster than last year, while junior Griffin Klein (Fair Haven, N.Y./Red Creek) improved upon his time from last year by 21 seconds to place eighth with a time of 26:35.6. Sophomore Dom Battaglia (Liverpool, N.Y./Liverpool) recorded a 24th-place finish in 28:16.1, an improvement of 44 places and 14 seconds from a year ago, to round out Le Moyne's scorers.
 
On the women's side, Hamilton captured the team competition with 30 points after having five of the top 11 finishers, including Hanna Jerome, who completed the race first in 18:38.4. The Dolphins had five of the top 12 finishers to place second with 36 points, while SUNY ESF was third with 78 points. Cazenovia College registered 140 points to place fourth, while SUNY Poly finished fifth with 172 points.
 
Mack completed the five-kilometer course in 19:10.8 to finish fourth among the 85 competitors, an improvement of eight places and 21 seconds from last year. Freshman Eva Keohane (Brewerton, N.Y./Central Square) was one place behind with a time of 19:16.8, the best time by any of the 37 freshmen in the race. Senior Jeanette Cudney (Cazenovia, N.Y./Cazenovia) finished in seventh place in 19:48.8, while sophomore Siara Clos (Syracuse, N.Y./Onondaga) crossed the finish line next in 19:52.1, eight seconds faster than last year. Freshman Haleigh Pascual (Manlius, N.Y./Fayetteville-Manlius) rounded out Le Moyne's scorers by placing 12th in 19:55.9.
 
Following their first weekend off of the season, the Dolphins return to action at the Northeast-10 Conference Championship hosted by American International College on Sunday, October 22 at Stanley Park in Westfield, Massachusetts.
