Canton, N.Y. – The Le Moyne College men's and women's cross country teams each had a pair of top-10 finishers at the Ronald C. Hoffmann Invitational hosted by St. Lawrence University on Saturday morning at the Ronald C. Hoffmann Cross Country Course.
The men's team finished in third place among the six competing institutions with 73 total points. The host Saints placed first with 18 points after having five of the top seven finishers, while Plattsburgh State placed second with 70 points. St. Lawrence's Thomas Caulfield turned in a time of 25:18.7 to place first individually.
On the women's side, the Dolphins placed fourth with 84 points. St. Lawrence was first with 25 points after having four of the top six finishers, while Plattsburgh State was second with 53 points and Clarkson was third with 78 points. St. Lawrence's Lisa Grohn placed first individually in 21:54.4.
For the Dolphin men, junior
Sean Beney (Camillus, N.Y./West Genesee) was the first finisher by navigating the eight-kilometer course in 26:08.5. Freshman
Nick Taylor (Endicott, N.Y./Maine-Endwell) finished in 10th place by recording a time of 26:36.7, while sophomore
Griffin Klein (Fair Haven, N.Y./Red Creek) turned in a time of 27:21.3 to place 16th. Freshman
Chris Davitt (Delmar, N.Y./Bethlehem) was the fourth Dolphin to cross the tape in 27:35.1 to finish 22nd, while classmate
Dom Battaglia (Liverpool, N.Y./Liverpool) rounded out the team's scorers with a time of 28:58.6 to place 50th.
For the women, junior
Jeanette Cudney (Cazenovia, N.Y./Cazenovia) was the top finisher by completing the six-kilometer course fifth in 23:18.1. Sophomore
Brittney Mack (Poestenkill, N.Y./Averill Park) was three spots back in 23:33.0, while freshman
Siara Clos (Syracuse, N.Y./Onondaga) recorded a time of 24:31.3 to place 26th. Freshman
Jordan Sloan (Central Square, N.Y./Bishop Grimes) registered a time of 24:53.7 to place 29th, while junior
Shania Hayward (Saratoga Springs, N.Y./Saratoga Springs) was the next finisher in 25:01.5.
The Dolphins have their second-to-last regular season meet of the campaign next Saturday at the Cazenovia College Homecoming Invitational at Fenner Field in Cazenovia.
