CROSS COUNTRY TEAMS PLACE SECOND AND THIRD AT MIDDLEBURY’S ALDRICH INVITATIONAL

Middlebury, Vt. – Sophomore Jeanette Cudney (Cazenovia, N.Y./Cazenovia) finished in 10th place to lead the Le Moyne College women's cross country team to a second-place finish at Middlebury College's Aldrich Invitational. Classmate Sean Beney (Camillus, N.Y./West Genesee) placed 14th to lead the men's team to a third-place finish.

Middlebury cruised to victories in each race. Of the top 16 finishers in the women's race, Cudney was the only runner not from Middlebury, which earned 15 points, while the Panthers had eight of the top nine men's finishers en route to 16 points. The Le Moyne women tallied 64 points to place second, Saint Michael's had 84 for third place, Norwich University posted 96 and Paul Smith's College placed fifth with 135 points. On the men's side, Norwich placed second with 56 points, Le Moyne was third with 81 and Paul Smith's was fourth with 98.

Cudney navigated the five-kilometer course, the longest Le Moyne has competed on thus far this season, in 20:08.4 to place 10th. Freshman Brittany Mack (Poestenkill, N.Y./Averill Park), Le Moyne's top finisher in each of the first two events, turned in a time of 21:43.3 to place 19th. The Dolphins then had the 22nd, 23rd, and 24th finishers. Sophomore Katherine Markstein (Binghamton, N.Y./Susquehanna Valley) placed 22nd in 22:00.6, junior Elena Doctor (Buffalo, N.Y./West Seneca East) finished 23rd in 22:05.4 and freshman Rachael Miller (Baldwinsville, N.Y./C.W. Baker) was 24th in 22:11.6.
 
On the men's side, Beney completed the eight-kilometer course in 28:45.5. Fellow sophomore Brody Witaszek (Ghent, N.Y./Chatham) was three spots back with a time of 29:31.6 Freshman Griffin Klein (Fair Haven, N.Y./Red Creek) registered a time of 29:48.7 to place 21st, while classmate Hamza Elhabbal (Fayetteville, N.Y./Fayetteville-Manlius) finished 33rd in 32:58.2. Sophomore Robert Jeffrey (Norwich, N.Y./Norwich) rounded out Le Moyne's five scorers with a time of 33:35.5 to place 35th.
 
Le Moyne returns to action on Saturday at the Harry F. Anderson Invitational hosted by Roberts Wesleyan College in Rochester.
