Scott Peterson '94 joined the athletic department in 1996 as the Head Athletic Trainer and currently serves as the Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Medicine. In this role, Peterson oversees all aspects of Le Moyne College’s Sports Medicine Department and Strength and Conditioning services, including the overall operation of athletic training and strength and conditioning facilities, supervising the prevention and treatment of athletic-related injuries to student-athletes, and the hiring and evaluation of all staff. He works closely with numerous local medical specialists to ensure that Le Moyne’s student-athletes are provided with the highest quality health care. He also serves as the Athletic Health Care Administrator.
Prior to his return to Le Moyne, Peterson was a graduate assistant athletic trainer at Illinois State University. While at ISU, he was responsible for medical coverage for men’s soccer, wrestling, and softball. Â
Peterson earned his undergraduate degree in biology from Le Moyne in 1994 while working as a student athletic trainer in the athletic department for four years. He then went on to earn a Master of Science degree in Athletic Training from Illinois State University and a Master of Public Health degree from SUNY Upstate Medical University and Syracuse University.
Peterson is proficient in mechanical diagnosis and therapy of the cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine through extensive training with The McKenzie Institute® USA and is a Corrective Exercise Specialist via The BioMechanics Method®.
He has been a board-certified Athletic Trainer (ATC) since 1995 and currently holds membership in the National Athletic Trainers Association (NATA) and the New York State Athletic Trainers Association. He also belongs to the American Public Health Association, the NYS Public Health Association, American College Health Association and the Society for Epidemiologic Research.Â
