Emily O'Hara and Julie McLaud named to Northeast-10 Conference Volleyball All-Academic team

EMILY O'HARA AND JULIE MCLAUD NAMED TO NORTHEAST-10 CONFERENCE ALL-ACADEMIC TEAMS, O'HARA A FIRST-TEAMER, MCLAUD ON SECOND TEAM

SOUTH EASTON, Mass. - Le Moyne College volleyball seniors Emily O'Hara (Altamont, N.Y./Guilderland) and Julie McLaud (Pine Bush, N.Y./Pine Bush) have been named to the Northeast-10 Conference Volleyball All-Academic team. O'Hara has been named to the first team, while McLaud gained a spot on the second team.

O'Hara, a Psychology major with a 3.84 grade point average, has earned a spot on the all-academic first team for the second consecutive season. This season, the middle hitter has landed 225 kills (2.08/game) and posted a team-high 88 blocks (0.81/game). She ranks fourth in the Northeast-10 Conference with a .344 hitting percentage. For her career, O'Hara tops Le Moyne's career charts with a .327 hitting percentage, ranks eighth with 742 kills and second with 311 total blocks.

McLaud, a Spanish major with a 3.42 grade point average, recently became the program's all-time leader in assists. The four-year starter at setter has posted 4,266 assists (11.26/game) at Le Moyne. This season, she has handed out 1,264 assists (11.60/game). She ranks second in the Northeast-10 Conference for assists per game this season. McLaud has also landed 406 kills in her career, 165 service aces and totaled 915 digs. She has posted a career-high 57 service aces this season to move up to sixth on the program's all-time list and her 915 digs rank seventh all-time. McLaud was also named to the all-academic second team last season.

Le Moyne (19-11, 9-5 Northeast-10) has closed out the regular season with four consecutive wins, including three straight in league action. The Dolphins, ranked 10th in the latest NCAA Division II Northeast Region poll, enter this weekend's Northeast-10 Conference tournament as the fifth seed. Le Moyne will square off with UMass Lowell in the single-elimination opening round at a time to be determined on Friday at Bryant University.

To be eligible for selection to the academic teams, a student-athlete must have met and/or exceeded the following minimum requirements: 1) participated in at least half of the team's competitions and be either a starter or significant contributor; 2) achieved a 3.2 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale); and 3) completed at least one academic year at his/her current institution. The Northeast-10 All-Academic Teams are chosen by a vote of the Northeast-10 Sports Information Directors.
