Albany, N.Y. – The Le Moyne College women's tennis opened Northeast-10 Conference play with a 7-2 win over The College of Saint Rose on Sunday afternoon at the UAlbany Bubble.

With the victory, the Dolphins claim the women's tennis point in the year-long "Upstate Challenge" between Le Moyne and the Golden Knights and narrow Saint Rose's lead to 6-5 through 13 contests.

The Dolphins opened the match by winning two of the three doubles matches. Sophomores Dominique Canale (Oswego, N.Y./Oswego/Arcadia) and Jessica Geary (Cicero, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse) teamed at the second spot to record an 8-1 victory over Maggie Moran and Alyssa Haddad. At third doubles, Allison Jones (Utica, N.Y./Notre Dame) and junior Kelly Falconer (Baldwinsville, N.Y./C.W. Baker) defeated Sarah Klein and Keri Robinson by a score of 8-2. Jennifer Crego and Paige Southwick were victorious at first singles, 8-6, over senior Rebecca Black (Palmyra, N.Y./Palmyra-Macedon) and sophomore Margaret LaFleur (Darien Center, N.Y./Attica).

In singles action, Canale posted a 6-2 win in the first set and a 6-0 win in the second set to defeat Southwick at the second spot. LaFleur was victorious at third singles over Klein by recording scores of 6-2 and 6-3, while Jones was a 6-4, 6-2 winner over Moran at fourth singles. Geary and Falconer each registered 6-0, 6-1 victories on the afternoon as Geary defeated Robinson and Falconer topped Haddad. Crego picked up a point for the Golden Knights by defeating Black at first singles, 6-1, 6-1.

Le Moyne (3-6, 2-4 NE-10), which posted its second straight 7-2 victory over the Golden Knights, returns to the courts on Saturday, March 23 at Assumption College at 12:00 p.m.
