WOMEN’S TENNIS DOWNED BY SOUTHERN NEW HAMPSHIRE, 9-0
Syracuse, N.Y. – The Le Moyne College women's tennis team wrapped up Northeast-10 Conference action in the fall season with a 9-0 loss to Southern New Hampshire on Sunday at the Skytop Tennis Courts.
Alena Mukdaprakorn and Diana Vamvakitis, last year's top doubles team in the Northeast-10, opened play with an 8-0 win over senior Rebecca Black (Palmyra, N.Y./Palmyra-Macedon) and junior Dominique Canale (Oswego, N.Y./Oswego/Arcadia) at first doubles. At the second doubles spot, sophomores Margaret LaFleur (Darien Center, N.Y./Attica) and Jessica Geary (Cicero, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse) were edged by Amanda Albuquerque and Yolanda Green, 8-4. Kirsten Jean and Jamie Hann teamed for an 8-0 win over juniors Kristine Kenny (Baytown, Texas/Ross S. Sterling-Baytown) and Kelly Falconer (Baldwinsville, N.Y./C.W. Baker) at third doubles.
Mukdaprakorn, last year's Northeast-10 Player of the Year, was victorious at first singles over Black, 6-0, 6-2. Vamvakitis, the NE-10 Rookie of the Year last year, recorded a 6-0, 6-0 win over Kenny at second singles. Albuquerque posted a 6-1, 6-2 victory at third singles over Canale, while Jean topped LaFleur, 6-1, 6-0 at fourth singles. At fifth singles, Hann registered a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Geary, while Green won 6-2, 6-0 over Falconer at the sixth spot.
Le Moyne (1-5, 1-4 NE-10) closes out the fall season on Saturday against Edinboro at 10:00 a.m.
