WOMEN’S TENNIS OPENS SEASON WITH 6-3 WIN AT SAINT ANSELM

Manchester, N.H. – The Le Moyne College women's tennis team opened the season with a 6-3 win over Saint Anselm on Saturday afternoon in Northeast-10 Conference action at the Saint Anselm Outside Courts.

The Dolphins opened the match by taking two of the three doubles matches. Senior Rebecca Black (Palmyra, N.Y./Palmyra-Macedon) teamed with sophomore Dominique Canale (Oswego, N.Y./Oswego/Arcadia) at first doubles to defeat Alexandra Lawrence and April Regan, 8-6. At third doubles, juniors Kristine Kenny (Baytown, Texas/Ross S. Sterling-Baytown) and Kelly Falconer (Baldwinsville, N.Y./C.W. Baker) combined for an 8-3 win over Julie Rohnstock and Christine Woods. The Hawks earned their first point of the day with an 8-5 win at second doubles by Kathryn Rindo and Kate Martin over sophomore Jessica Geary (Cicero, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse) and freshman Allison Jones (Utica, N.Y./Notre Dame).

Le Moyne captured four of the six singles matches to clinch the victory. Kenny registered a 6-2, 6-1 win at second singles over Rindo, while Canale won her Le Moyne debut, 6-4, 6-0, at third singles over Regan. Sophomore Margaret LaFleur (Darien Center, N.Y./Attica) won her fifth straight match dating back to last year with a 6-3, 1-6, 6-4 victory over Martin at fourth singles. Jones opened her collegiate career with a 6-4, 1-6, 6-3 win over Julie Manning at the fifth spot. Lawrence earned a 3-6, 6-3, 6-0 win over Black at first singles, while Rohnstock posted a 7-6, 6-1 win over Geary at the sixth spot.

Le Moyne (1-0, 1-0 NE-10), which won its sixth straight match dating back to last year, returns to action on Sunday at Merrimack at 9:00 a.m.
