ALISON LESHER FINISHES SECOND IN 200 BUTTERFLY, SETS PROGRAM RECORD EN ROUTE TO ALL-AMERICA STATUS
BUFFALO - Junior Alison Lesher (Sherrill, N.Y./Vernon-Verona-Sherrill) capped her trip to the NCAA Division II Swimming & Diving Championship with a second-place finish in the 200 butterfly. Lesher finished in 2:03.72 at the Burt Flickinger Athletic Center, just six-tenths of a second behind national champion Janelle Slatter of Drury.
Lesher's previous best in the 200 butterfly this season came at the NYSWCAA Championship where she finished in 2:05.84 to capture that individual championship.
Lesher has achieved All-America status in the 200 butterfly at each of the last two national championships. Last season, Lesher finished fifth in the 200 butterfly to become the program's first to gain All-America status, touching in a time of 2:05.71.
