WSOC: CHRISTIE MORANO EARNS FOURTH NE-10 FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
HONORS
South Easton, Mass. - Le Moyne College freshman forward
Christie Morano (Highland, N.Y./Highland) was
named the Northeast-10 Conference women's soccer freshman of the
week, as announced by the conference office on Monday
afternoon.
Morano, named the freshman of the week for the fourth time this
season, tallied two points on one goal in Le Moyne's 1-1 week.
Morano scored the game-winning goal at the 5:04 mark of overtime in
the Dolphins' 2-1 non-conference win over Roberts Wesleyan on
Wednesday. The goal marked Morano's fourth overtime tally of the
season.
For the season, Morano has a team-best 11 goals and two assists for
a team-high 24 points. Morano ranks sixth in the NE-10 in points
and goals scored and is tops among freshmen in both categories. The
11 goals and 24 points are the most by a Dolphin freshman in 17
years and are the third-highest totals in the program's
history.
Le Moyne (10-6-2, NE-10 6-6-2), which has reached double-digit wins
for the sixth time in the program's history and for the first time
since the 2000 season, closes out the regular season on Wednesday
against The College of Saint Rose at 4:00 p.m. A win over the
Golden Knights would clinch a spot in next week's Northeast-10
Conference tournament for the Dolphins.
