WSOC: STONEHILL TOPS LE MOYNE 2-0 IN NE-10
ACTION
Easton, MA – Winners of its last six games, Stonehill
College topped Le Moyne 2-0 in Northeast-10 Conference action on
Saturday at Skyhawk Field. The victory pushes the Skyhawks to 10-7,
8-6 in the NE-10. Le Moyne falls to 10-6-2, 6-6-2 in conference
play.
Stonehill took an early 1-0 lead as Kirsten Rene registered a goal
at the four-minute mark by knocking in a loose ball off a Skyhawk
corner kick. The Skyhawks struck once again in the 15th minute as
Michele Norton scored her fifth goal of the year off a deflection
in front of the Dolphin goal.
The Dolphins were held scoreless for the fourth time this season
as Sarah Hickey recorded her fourth consecutive shutout by making
eight saves.
On the game, Le Moyne and Stonehill were tied with 11 shots each
and the Skyhawks held a 11-6 advantage in corner shots.
In goal for Le Moyne, Melissa Stevens (Camillus, NY / West
Genesee) recorded five saves.
Le Moyne wraps up the regular season on Wednesday, October 24th
when it hosts undefeated and #2 ranked St. Rose at 4:00 PM. The
game will also mark the final home game for the seven members of
the senior class. A ceremony will be held on the field prior to the
game.
