WSOC: DOLPHINS FALL TO SAINT ANSELM, 3-0, IN NE-10 ACTION

Manchester, N.H. - Teresa Vercollone scored two goals to lead Saint Anselm to a 3-0 victory over the Le Moyne College women's soccer team in Northeast-10 Conference action on Saturday at Melucci Field.

The Hawks opened the scoring at the 27:05 mark with a goal from Bethany Dunn off an assist from Mary Kate Heavey and Jennifer Pearl. Saint Anselm added to its lead with just over three minutes remaining in the opening half. Vercollone received a pass from Erika Sartor and scored past senior goalkeeper Amanda Abbatiello (Liverpool, N.Y./Liverpool).

The Hawks closed out the contest's scoring in the 74th minute after Pearl took control of the ball from a Le Moyne defender and passed to a cutting Vercollone to take a 3-0 lead.

Saint Anselm outshot the Dolphins 18-9 in the contest, including an 11-2 advantage in the first half, while each team registered seven corner kicks. Abbatiello posted three saves between the pipes, while Jacqueline Cooney made five saves for the Hawks.

Le Moyne (8-5-2, NE-10 5-5-2), which falls into ninth place behind Saint Anselm in the conference standings, returns to action on Wednesday, Oct. 22 against Saint Rose at 4:00 p.m. The contest marks the final home regular-season game for the Dolphins' eight-member senior class.
