WSOC: DOLPHINS TIE NO. 18 SO. NEW HAMPSHIRE, 1-1, IN NE-10 ACTION
Syracuse, N.Y. - Senior midfielder Meg Turley (Cicero, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse) netted her first goal of the season as the Le Moyne College women's soccer team played to a 1-1 tie with Southern New Hampshire in Northeast-10 action at the Thomas J. Niland Athletic Complex. The Penmen came into the game ranked No. 18 in the latest NSCAA/adidas National Rankings.
It took the Dolphins less than four minutes to net the game's first goal. At the 3:27 mark, Turley took a feed from sophomore midfielder Kaitlyn Brown (Glenmoore, Pa./Conestoga Christian) and ripped a goal from six yards out. Southern New Hampshire tallied the equalizer ten minutes later when Kristina Cardoso took a ball from Sophia Saint Paul and lofted a ball from the left side of the goal box.
The game remained scoreless for the game's final 96 minutes but junior forward Megan O'Shea (East Syracuse, N.Y./East Syracuse-Minoa) nearly put Le Moyne on top with a strike that bent wide left at the 67:52 mark. Both teams managed a pair of shots through two scoreless overtime periods.
Senior goalkeeper Amanda Abbatiello (Liverpool, N.Y./Liverpool) finished with five saves for the Dolphins and Stef Young collected three saves between the pipes for the Penmen. Southern New Hampshire (6-2-3, NE-10 5-2-2) held a 17-8 advantage in the shots category for the game and a 7-4 edge in corner kicks.
Le Moyne (7-4-2, NE-10 4-4-2) returns to action Wednesday when the team hosts Northeast-10 Conference foe American International at 4 p.m.
