LE MOYNE RALLIES FOR 3-2 VICTORY OVER ASSUMPTION IN NE-10 ACTION

Syracuse, N.Y. - Sophomore Kaitlyn Brown (Glenmoore, Pa./Conestoga Christian) scored in the 89th minute to lead the Le Moyne College women's soccer team to a 3-2 come-from-behind victory over Assumption on Wednesday, Sept. 17 at the Thomas J. Niland Athletic Complex.

Le Moyne opened the scoring in the contest midway through the first half. After a foul on Assumption, freshman Rachel Farneti (Marcellus, N.Y./Marcellus) tallied a goal off a free kick from just outside the penalty box. The Dolphins registered four shots in the remaining final 30 minutes of the half, but could not convert and took a 1-0 lead into intermission.

Assumption recorded a pair of goals over a two minute and 16 second span to pull ahead. Jessica Vavrek knotted the score at one apiece at 61:02 with a goal from just outside the penalty box on the right side. At 63:16, Kirsten Chirichetti headed the ball into the goal at the far post off a corner kick off the foot of Sasha Sarmento.

After 21 scoreless minutes, the Dolphins netted the equalizer on a sliding goal by junior Christina Harrison (Jamesville, N.Y./Jamesville-DeWitt) off a feed from the left side by classmate Courtney Paddock (Baldwinsville, N.Y./C.W. Baker). Just over three and a half minutes later, Brown registered the game-winner. After junior defender Alex Dwyer (Syracuse, N.Y./Westhill) hit the right post on a corner kick by Farneti, junior Megan O'Shea (East Syracuse, N.Y./East Syracuse-Minoa) redirected the ball to Brown.

The Dolphins outshot the Greyhounds 15-3 In the match, including 10-3 in the second half, but Assumption held a 7-4 advantage in corner kicks. Senior goalkeeper Amanda Abbatiello (Liverpool, N.Y./Liverpool) did not register a save in net, while Assumption's Lauren Keating posted five saves.

Le Moyne (4-1-1, NE-10 1-1-1) returns to Northeast-10 Conference action on Saturday at UMass-Lowell at 1:00 p.m.
