DOLPHINS TIE BENTLEY, 2-2, IN NORTHEAST-10 WOMEN'S SOCCER ACTION

Waltham, Mass. - Junior Alex Dwyer (Syracuse, N.Y./Westhill) and sophomore Riane Fletcher (Lisbon, N.Y./Lisbon) tallied first half goals to lead the Le Moyne College women's soccer team to a 2-2 double-overtime tie with Bentley in Northeast-10 Conference action on Saturday, Sept. 13.

Dwyer got the Dolphins on the board just 6:42 into the contest. Freshman Rachel Farneti (Marcellus, N.Y./Marcellus) delivered a pass into the penalty box and Dwyer one-timed the ball into the goal. After almost 25 scoreless minutes, Bentley evened the match at one apiece on a successful penalty kick by Cheryl Boyd.

Fletcher gave Le Moyne a 2-1 lead with under five minutes remaining in the opening half with an unassisted goal. Neither team was able to register a shot in the final minutes of the period as the Dolphins went into intermission with the lead for the fifth consecutive game.

The Falcons netted the equalizer 21:01 into the second half. Ashley Reynolds collected a loose ball in the penalty box and beat senior goalkeeper Amanda Abbatiello (Liverpool, N.Y./Liverpool) to tie the game at two. Bentley had a pair of shots in the closing moments of the period, but Abbatiello registered a save on each.

In the first overtime period, the Falcons fired four shots on goal, but could not connect as Abbatiello turned each away. Le Moyne had three chances in the second overtime, but could not deliver the game-winner.

Le Moyne held an 18-16 advantage in shots, while each team earned six corner kicks. Abbatiello made eight saves in net for the Dolphins, while Bentley's Kara Smith registered seven.

Le Moyne (3-1-1, NE-10 0-1-1) returns to action on Wednesday at 4:00 p.m. against Northeast-10 Conference foe Assumption.
