#2 FRANKLIN PIERCE RALLIES FOR 4-3 VICTORY OVER LE MOYNE

Syracuse, N.Y. - Sophomore Angelika Johansson scored three goals, including the game-winner, to lead #2 nationally-ranked Franklin Pierce to a come-from-behind 4-3 victory over Le Moyne on Saturday, Sept. 6 at the Thomas J. Niland Athletic Complex.

Junior Megan O'Shea (East Syracuse, N.Y./East Syracuse-Minoa) got the Dolphins on the board first with an unassisted goal at the 22:22 mark of the opening half. After dribbling the ball down the endline on the right side, O'Shea deposited her third goal of the season past the goalkeeper from just inside the goal box. Just over three minutes later, sophomore Riane Fletcher (Lisbon, N.Y./Lisbon) netted her first goal of the season off a corner kick. Freshman Rachel Farneti (Marcellus, N.Y./Marcellus) lofted the corner kick into the goal box, where O'Shea redirected the ball to Fletcher. O'Shea added to the Le Moyne lead with a second unassisted goal at the 31:12 mark. As a Franklin Pierce defender was carrying the ball from the left side of the field to the right, O'Shea stole the ball and beat the keeper inside the right post.

Johansson cut into the Dolphins lead with 8:34 remaining in the period off a feed from Snezana Stojkovic. Johansson received a feed from the left side and chipped the ball over the goalkeeper from the top of the penalty box. The scored remained 3-1 heading into intermission.

Just 35 seconds into the second half, Johansson tallied the Ravens' second goal on a cross along the endline. A sliding Johansson knocked in Nikki Chalifoux's pass from the left wing. Junior All-American Gabriela Demoner evened the score at three apiece with an unassisted tally at 63:24. Demoner carried the ball down the left side and scored into the upper left corner from 12 yards out.

Johansson, an All-American as a freshman, gave the Ravens the lead with 12:58 remaining off a loose ball in the middle of the penalty box. After Le Moyne goalkeeper Amanda Abbatiello (Liverpool, N.Y./Liverpool) swatted away an incoming ball, Johansson collected the rebound and put the ball into the back of the net. Le Moyne had an opportunity to tie the game with 5:21 remaining, but missed on a penalty kick after Christina Harrison (Jamesville, N.Y./Jamesville-DeWitt) was taken down inside the penalty box.

Franklin Pierce (2-0-1, NE-10 1-0-1) held a 15-12 edge in shot, including 12-4 in the second half. The Ravens also registered a 9-5 advantage in corner kicks. Abbatiello made two saves in net, while Franklin Pierce's Brittany Ester recorded two saves also.

Le Moyne (3-1, NE-10 0-1) returns to action on Saturday, Sept. 13 at Bentley at 2:00 p.m.
