LE MOYNE WOMEN'S SOCCER BLANKS WILMINGTON, 2-0, AT AIC SOCCER CLASSIC
Springfield, Mass. - Juniors Courtney Paddock (Baldwinsville, N.Y./C.W. Baker) and Christina Harrison (Jamesville, N.Y./Jamesville-DeWitt) each scored a goal to lead the Le Moyne College women's soccer team to a 2-0 win over Wilmington on the opening day of the AIC Soccer Classic on Friday, Aug. 29.
Le Moyne got on the board in the 14th minute of the
contest on Paddock's second career goal. The Dolphins rattled off
12 shots in the re
maining 31 minutes of the opening half, but Wilmington goalkeeper
Amanda Jenkins turned away 10 shots in the period to keep the
contest at 1-0.
Harrison, who scored in the opening game of the season for the third consecutive season, pushed the Dolphins' lead to 2-0 with an unassisted goal at the 52:02 mark of the contest.
The Dolphins out-shot the Wildcats 36-5 in the contest and held a 7-1 advantage in corner kicks. Jenkins finished the game with 19 saves, while Le Moyne senior Amanda Abbatiello (Liverpool, N.Y./Liverpool) had to record just three saves to preserve her eighth career shutout.
Le Moyne (1-0) returns to action on Saturday, Aug. 30 against Caldwell at 2 p.m. on the final day of the AIC Soccer Classic.
