LE MOYNE FALLS TO BENTLEY, 2-1

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – A Le Moyne comeback attempt fell short as Bentley scored a 2-1 road win in Northeast-10 women’s soccer action at the Thomas J. Niland Athletic Complex. The Dolphins (5-2, 2-2 NE-10) dip to .500 in conference play while the Falcons (5-1-1, 2-0-1 NE-10) remain unbeaten in the Northeast-10 Conference. Jocelyn Jankowski netted her first goal of the season with a second-half score for Le Moyne.

Despite holding a 20-6 advantage in shots, the Dolphins’ offensive pressure could not translate into goals. Bentley scored 20 minutes into the match as Leah Leavitt connected on a Cheryl Boyd corner kick. The pair teamed up again 10 minutes into the second half as Boyd sent in a second-chance opportunity off of an initial shot from Leavitt.

Jankowski provided Le Moyne’s offense with just less than 30 minutes remaining, booming a Courtney Paddock corner kick into the back of the net. The Dolphins held a 10-3 shot advantage in the final half but Kara Smith turned away 11 shots for the Falcons. Amanda Abbatiello collected two saves for Le Moyne.

Le Moyne hits the road for four of their next five conference games. The Dolphins travel to Pace University for a 4 p.m. affair on Wednesday. They return to the Thomas J. Niland Athletic Complex to host No. 4 Bryant on September 25.
