LE MOYNE DEFEATS UMASS-LOWELL, 2-1; O'SHEA & TURLEY NET GOALS FOR DOLPHINS
SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Le Moyne won for the fifth time in six games, defeating UMass-Lowell, 2-1, at the Thomas J. Niland Athletic Complex. The Dolphins (5-1, 2-1 NE-10) notched their first home victory for the season while the River Hawks (5-2, 1-2 NE-10) dropped their second conference game in three tries. Megan O'Shea scored a goal for the sixth straight game to open the season and Meg Turley tallied her second score of the 2007 campaign.
Turley delivered a header off of a Jill Tolman shot at the 23:09 mark of the first half to put the Dolphins ahead, 1-0. Goalkeeper Amanda Abbatiello utilized the defensive efforts of Courtney Paddock, Justine Ravas and Tolman en route to collecting six saves.
O'Shea scored for the sixth consecutive game with just under 20 minutes remaining in the contest. The sophomore received a pass from Jacki Rossi and placed the ball in the top right corner to push the Le Moyne lead to 2-0. O'Shea's six goals place her in a tie for first in the Northeast-10 goals scored standings.
For UMass-Lowell, Jenna Tulley cut the deficit in half with a score late in the second half.
Le Moyne hosts Bentley to complete a three-game conference home stand at noon on Saturday.
