STONEHILL SQUEEZES BY LE MOYNE, 2-1; O'SHEA STAYS HOT FOR DOLPHINS
SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Megan O’Shea netted a goal in her
fifth consecutive game but Stonehill edged Le Moyne, 2-1, at the
Thomas J. Niland Athletic Complex. The Dolphins (4-1, 1-1 NE-10)
saw their four-game win streak snapped while the Skyhawks (1-2, 1-1
NE-10) earned their first victory of the season.
O’Shea added to her team lead in goals with a second-half
score that drew the Dolphins to within one. The sophomore’s
five goals scored rank in a tie for second in the Northeast-10
Conference statistical standings. Amanda Abbatiello collected a
season-high eight saves in goal for the Dolphins
Stonehill’s offense came from the foot of Lauren Boyd, who
delivered two first-half goals in the game’s first 20
minutes. Boyd scored three minutes in to the contest and then at
the 28:23 mark of the first half. Alex Eckhardt stopped three shots
between the pipes.
Le Moyne hosts UMass-Lowell in the second game of their current
three-game conference home stand. The Wednesday contest is slated
for 4 p.m.
