WOMEN'S SOCCER ANNOUNCES INCOMING CLASS & 2007 SCHEDULE
SYRACUSE, NY - Second year Head Coach Jimmy Riverso '02 has announced his team's 18-game schedule that features eight home games and begins on Saturday, August 25th when the Le Moyne will take on St. Aquinas at Pace University. The Dolphins will open their home schedule on Saturday, September 8th as they take on Stonehill at Noon.
The Le Moyne Women's Soccer program welcomes seven new student-athletes in 2007. This class marks the second recruiting class for Riverso and will feature three forwards, two midfielders and two defenders. The Dolphins look to build of their 2006 campaign that landed them in the Northeast 10 Conference tournament for the first time since the 2000 season.
Kaitlyn Brown (Midfielder / Glenmoore, PA- Conestoga Christian)
Kaitlyn is a technical, strong and dynamic player. She is a very intelligent player who can pick passes out for teammates or go it on her own. Her ability to tackle and get forward makes her a two-way threat. She has everything you need to be a great central midfielder and we are ecstatic to have her coming in to compete for a spot in the middle of the park. We will be looking for an immediate impact from her this coming season.
Caitlin O' Rourke (Forward /Orchard Park, NY- Mt. Mercy Academy)
Caitlin is an extremely quick and crafty player with a tremendous work rate. She loves running at defenders and has the pace to round them and get to the end line. We are hoping her ability to take risks in the attacking third will lead to greater offensive production for our team this season. We will look to use her quickness with the ball to unbalance teams and add to our array of attacking options. We believe Caitlin will have a big role to play in the fall.
Riane Fletcher (Forward /Lisbon, NY- Lisbon)
Riane is a player who has proven herself as a goal scorer. She has that knack of being in the right places to get goals and that is invaluable in any team. She is a technical and fearless player going forward and we will be looking for her to put a lot of pressure on opposing defenders. We think Riane will have no problem adjusting to the level of play and are counting on her to make an impact for us either as a forward or midfielder this fall.
Jillian Tolman (Defender /Poughkeepsie, NY- Ketcham)
Jill is a strong, technical defender that leads from the back. She helped her high school team reach new heights last fall and we are hoping she does the same for us. Jill has the ability to play in the back or as a holding midfielder and we are excited to see where she best fits in to our plans. She has the ability to lead and we are looking forward to having her composure and confidence being displayed across the back. We are looking to concede fewer goals this fall and think that Jill can help us do that. We will be looking for Jill to come in and prove herself right away and push our more experienced players.
Colleen Doyle (Defender / Preston, CT- Norwich Free Academy)
Colleen is another strong defender who will come in and push those returning defenders for playing time. She adds a physical presence to our defending core, but she also has the ability to play forward out of the back. We believe Colleen will adjust quickly to the physical challenge in the NE-10 and help us improve defensively. She has all the tools to be successful at this level and we are excited to see how she will fit into our plans.
Terra Masello (Forward / Syracuse, NY- Bishop Grimes)
Terra is another attacking player who has loads of pace and can unbalance opposing defenders. She has had to carry the majority of the attacking responsibilities for her former teams and we are looking forward to her blossoming in a team where she can play off of other players. With her pace and quickness we are hoping she can get in behind and create some chances for us. We will be looking for Terra to play as a forward and possibly wide in the midfield, wherever she plays we feel she can do a job for us.
Mell Cathcart (Midfielder / Syracuse, NY- Faith Heritage)
Mell is a smooth, technical player on the ball. She can pick out passes very well and is a selfless player with a pass first mentality. Mell is creative and if she can adjust quickly to the speed of the game then we think she can be a real asset in helping us keep possession of the ball. We really like her vision and with the way we try to play it will be an invaluable asset to have. Mell will compete for a place in the midfield and with the work ethic we have seen we think she can come into her own and be an important player for us.
