BRIGANDI & FUCILLO TO PLAY IN 2012 IWLCA ALL-STAR GAME; BETH HEWITT TO GUIDE NORTH ALL-STARS

Graduating seniors Brittany Brigandi (Syracuse, N.Y./Christian Brothers Academy/UMass) and Kelly Fucillo (Camillus, N.Y./West Genesee) have been honored by the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) as two of 115 senior student-athletes selected to the North–South Senior All-Star Game taking place on Saturday, June 16th, as announced by the Association on Friday.

The game will take place at the Champions' Cup at the United Sports Training Center in Downingtown, Pennsylvania and will precede the IWLCA All-American banquet later that evening.

Beth Hewitt was named the head coach of the 19-member North Roster. In three seasons at Le Moyne, Hewitt has guided the Dolphins to a 43-12 (.781) overall record and two appearances in the NCAA Division II semifinals.

Brigandi, a two-time First Team All-American, was named the Northeast-10 Conference Player of the Year, the only unanimous Northeast-10 First Team selection and an IWLCA North Region First Team honoree. Brigandi led the team and was second in the conference in goals scored with 66, the second-highest total on the program's single season chart. Nationally, her goal total is the seventh-highest, while her per-game average of 3.47 ranks 12th. Brigandi, a first team selection at attack last year, ranks fourth on the team in assists with 13 to give her a team-best 79 points, the fifth-best total on the program's single season list and the fourth-most in the conference and 18th nationally. Brigandi, who broke the program's career goals scored record on April 28th with her 176th, scored the game-winning goal in a team-best five games and had a team-leading 16 free-position goals. Additionally, Brigandi was second on the team in draw controls with 46 and tied for second on the team in ground balls with 30. Brigandi, the Northeast-10 Player of the Week on April 2, scored at least two goals in 17 of 19 games played and registered at least four goals in 11 contests. In a 12-4 win over Bentley on April 1, Brigandi tallied seven goals, at the time the third-most in a game by a Dolphin. Brigandi finished her career with a program-record 182 goals, 35 assists (14th on the program's career list) and 217 total points, the third-highest total on the program's career chart.

Fucillo, a First Team All-America selection in addition to being named the Northeast-10 Conference Goalkeeper of the Year and a Northeast-10 and IWLCA North Region First Team selection, led the conference and country in goals against average at 7.14. Fucillo, named the goalkeeper of the week a league-best three times this season, registered the top save percentage in the league at 52.8, which ranks second in the nation. In 1009.02 between the pipes, Fucillo recorded 134 saves, including a season-best 14 in a 14-8 win over Stonehill to close out the regular season. Fucillo completed her career with 48 wins (the second-most in the program's history), a program-best 8.69 goals against average and 605 saves (the second-most on the program's career chart) as a starter in a program-record 72 games.
