WLAX: #18 NEW HAMPSHIRE USES STRONG FIRST HALF TO TOP LE
MOYNE 17-5.
DURHAM, NH – The #18-ranked New Hampshire Wildcats used 12
first-half goals in defeating Le Moyne 17-5 on Saturday afternoon.
UNH used goals from 10 different Wildcats in the first-ever meeting
between the two programs. Le Moyne drops to 5-9 on the season while
New Hampshire moves to 9-6.
The Wildcats opened the game on a 6-0 run highlighted by Michaela
Hardy’s first two of three goals on the afternoon. Le Moyne
broke through at the 21:29 mark as Mia Valletta (Niskayuna, NY /
Niskayuna) tailed her 25th goal of the season. Despite a goal from
Jackie Lundblad (Marietta, NY / Marcellus) and two
from sophomore Katlin Walker (Penn Yan, NY / Penn
Yan), the Dolphins trailed 12-4 at the half.
In the second half, UNH added five more goals against just one by
Le Moyne’s Jennifer Lewis (East Syracuse, NY / East
Syracuse Minoa).
New Hampshire was led on offense by Hardy and Deb Dale with three
goals each. Sarah Von Bargen, Ashley Durepo and Allie Bratton each
chipped in with two goals each.
Freshman Kelly Fucillo (Camillus, NY / West
Genesee) helped her cause with 12 saves in goal for the
Dolphins. UNH’s Kate Gunts recorded only one save on the
afternoon as the Dolphin offense was held to only 10 shots.
Le Moyne returns to action on April 18th as they travel to face
UMBC at 1:00 p.m.
