DOLPHINS USE SECOND HALF SURGE TO TOP UC DAVIS
11-9.
SYRACUSE, NY – Four Dolphins scored two goals to lead Le
Moyne past UC Davis 11-9 on Wednesday at the Niland Athletic
Complex. The Aggies were led by Katie McMahon’s five goals,
but it wasn’t enough as the Dolphins outscored UC Davis 5-2
in the second half to secure their fifth win of the season.
Senior Kylie Rosette got the Dolphins (5-4) on the board early on
an unassisted goal 1:12 into the game. UC Davis (3-6) strung
together four straight goals, including two from McMahon, to jump
out in front 4-1. Ashley Zeremba’s first career goal and
another by freshman Rebekah Elmer trimmed the Aggie lead to 4-3
with 18:17 in the first period. Following McMahon’s third
goal of the game, the Dolphins scored three of the next five goals
to pull within one at 7-6 after 30 minutes.
The Dolphins regained the lead on two goals by Michelle Lissner to
open the second half. An unassisted goal by McMahon tied the game
at 8-8 with 21:41 to play. Le Moyne goals by Katlin Walker, Meghan
Burgoon and Whitney Vecchio extended the Dolphin lead to 11-8 with
just over three minutes remaining secured the victory.
Senior goalie Samantha Falcone earned the win as he recorded eight
saves on 20 Aggie shots. On the day, Lissner scored two goals and
assisted on two others. Whitney Vecchio added two goals and one
assist. Kylie Rosette and Rebekah Elmer also added two goals.
Zeremba, Burgoon and Walker rounded out the Dolphin attack with one
goal each.
Le Moyne returns to action on Friday, March 28th as they travel to
take on Villanova at 7:00 PM.
