WHITNEY VECCHIO HAS A HAND IN NINE GOALS AS DOLPHINS TOP
BINGHAMTON 14-9
Binghamton, NY – Senior Whitney Vecchio recorded six goals
and dished out three assists as the Dolphins topped Binghamton 14-9
on Tuesday at the Binghamton Sports Complex. With the win, the
Dolphins even their record at 4-4. Binghamton falls to 3-6.
The Dolphins jumped out to a quick 2-0 advantage with goals from
Whitney Vecchio and Michelle Lissner. Binghamton would break
through with a goal from Lisa Illig at 22:13 to pull within one at
2-1. Molly Yaman would add her fourth goal of the season and
Lissner would add her second of three goals on the night to push
the Dolphin lead to 4-1. After the Bearcats scratched for two goals
to pull within one at 4-3, the Dolphins closed the half with four
consecutive goals to take an 8-3 advantage into the break.
Two more goals by Vecchio and Leah Lazarz’s first career goal
to open the second half increase the Dolphin lead to 11-3. Four
straight BU goals by four different Bearcats closed the gap to 11-7
with over 11 minutes to play. Two Le Moyne goals by Lissner and
Vecchio in a :20 second stretch pushed the Dolphin lead back to
13-7 en route to the 14-9 victory.
Kylie Rosette added a goal and three assists to the Le Moyne cause,
while four other Dolphins recorded goals on the night. Samantha
Falcone, who ranks 8th nationally in save percentage, recorded nine
saves on 18 Bearcat shots.
The Dolphins return to action on Wednesday, March 26th when they
host California-Davis at 3:00 PM.
