LE MOYNE WINS MAAC TOURNAMENT CHAMPIONSHIP GAME IN OVERTIME; ROSETTE NAMED TOURNAMENT MVP.

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. - The Le Moyne College women's lacrosse team captured the 2007 MAAC Tournament Championship in dramatic fashion. Le Moyne rallied from a 13-7 deficit with 11:41 to play to tie the game at 13-13 on McKenzie Gray's (Baldwinsville, N.Y. /Baldwinsville) second goal of the day. MAAC Offensive Player of the Year Amanda Keegan (Marcellus, NY / Marcellus) scored the eventual game winning goal 1:57 into overtime. The victory marks the second consecutive season that Dolphins have finished the conference season undefeated and as conference champions.

Marist jumped out to a quick three goal lead and scored six of the first seven goals to take a 6-1 advantage halfway through the first half. Whitney Vecchio (Watertown, N.Y. /General Brown) and Lisa McCarthy (Syracuse, N.Y. /West Genesee) tallied goals in the first half to trim the Marist lead to 7-3 at the break.

In the second half, Marist would post three straight goals to begin the period and increase their lead to 10-3. The Red Foxes would take a 12-4 advantage on a Carolyn Sumcizk goal at the 22:01 mark.  From that point, the Dolphins would outscore Marist 9-1 and tie the game at 13-13 on Gray's goal with :50 seconds remaining. In overtime, Amanda Keegan poured in her second goal of the game to lead the Dolphins to victory.

Kylie Rosette (Watertown, N.Y. /General Brown) was named the Most Valuable Player as she led the Dolphins with four goals and three assists in the victory. This marks the second time that Rosette was named MAAC Tournament MVP in her career. Lisa McCarthy (Syracuse, N.Y. /West Genesee) chipped in with three goals and two assist. Whitney Vecchio (Watertown, N.Y. /General Brown), Gray and Keegan scored two each to for the Dolphins.

With the victory, the Dolphins clinch a spot in the NCAA Tournament for the fourth time in program history. Le Moyne will take on Northeast Conference champion Monmouth University in the NCAA Tournament Play-in Game that will be held at the Niland Athletic Complex on Saturday at 1:00 pm.
