Stroman finished the game with nine points, three rebounds and a pair of assists. Sophomore forward Maggie Brown (Cortland, N.Y./Cortland) led the Dolphins offensively with 14 points, 12 of which came in the second half, while adding five rebounds and two assists. Junior forward Emily Greer (Corry, Pa./Corry) led the Dolphins in rebounds with seven.
Sydney Tepley led the Yellow Jackets in the loss with a double-double of 12 points and 11 rebounds, including five on the offensive end. Krista Ferrentino added 10 points and seven rebounds, while Kamika Mason came off the bench to record eight points and eight rebounds.
After Tepley started the game's scoring with a jumper at the 18:08 mark, the Dolphins tallied the next nine points over a span of four minutes. Junior guard Alex Marple (Covington, Pa./Wellsboro) got the Dolphins on the scoreboard with a jumper, senior guard Maddy McKnight (Springfield, Pa./Springfield) followed with two free throws, Brown had a put-back lay-up and then Stroman buried a three-pointer from the top of the key.
Following four points by the Yellow Jackets over 2:51, Le Moyne scored seven straight points to take its largest lead of the game. Marple made a jumper from the right block, junior forward Tessa Pucello (Syracuse, N.Y./Solvay) nailed a three-pointer from the top of the key and then Greer converted a lay-up.
The Yellow Jackets responded with a 7-0 run of their own to pull within three (16-13) with 4:41 left in the half. Tepley made a lay-up to start the push, Ferrentino converted a lay-up and free throw on separate possessions and Mason capped the streak with a put-back lay-up.
The Dolphins, who snapped a seven-game losing streak to the Yellow Jackets dating back to November 24, 2009, scored five points in 34 seconds to push their lead back to eight, but the Yellow Jackets scored the final four points of the half to pull within 21-17 at the intermission. In Le Moyne's 5-0 spurt, McKnight buried a three-pointer from the right wing and Stroman followed with a lay-up, while Mason made a jumper and Ebony Easter knocked down a jump shot to close out the half's scoring.
After American International scored the first four points of the second half on baskets by Ferrentino and Tepley to tie the score at 21, Brown scored seven straight points over 66 seconds to regain control of the game for the Dolphins with 16:32 left.
The teams then went back-and-forth over the next six minutes, resulting in a 36-38 Le Moyne advantage. Each team had four players score in the span.
Following a three-pointer from the left corner by Marple with 10:29 left that gave the Dolphins the 36-28 lead, the Yellow Jackets scored 11 consecutive points and 17 of the next 20 for their largest lead of the contest (45-39) with 4:05 to play. American International scored on eight of 11 possessions in the streak. Alyssa Roach had five points in the stretch, including her team's only three-pointer of the game, Ferrentino and Tepley each had four, Sarah Noble made a lay-up and then Easter ended the streak with a lay-up.
After being held scoreless for 2:58 and to just three points over a span of 8:23, the Dolphins tallied eight straight points over the last 2:06 of the game to capture the win. Brown started the push with a free throw with 2:06 left. Following American International's third straight turnover, McKnight buried a three-pointer from the right corner with 1:39 left to pull the Dolphins within two. After another turnover by the Yellow Jackets, Brown drew a foul with 42 seconds to play and sank both foul shots to even the game at 45 apiece. Stroman caused AIC's fifth straight turnover with 30 seconds left and drew a foul, but failed to convert either foul shot. However, the Dolphins retained possession of the ball as it caromed out-of-bounds off the knee of a Yellow Jacket. Stroman drew another foul with five seconds to play and avenged her previous two misses by sinking both free throw attempts around an American International timeout. On the ensuing Yellow Jacket possession, Roach stepped on the right sideline with two seconds left for American International's sixth straight turnover. The Dolphins were able to run the final two seconds off the clock for their third straight win.
