WOMEN’S BASKETBALL FALLS ON THE ROAD TO #2 BENTLEY UNIVERSITY

Waltham, Mass. – Lauren Batista and Courtney Finn each scored 17 points to lead second-ranked Bentley University to an 85-51 win over the Le Moyne College women's basketball team on Tuesday night in Northeast-10 Conference action at the Dana Center.

Freshman forward Lauren Price (Humble, Texas/Atascocita) was the only Dolphin in double digits, registering 10 points off the bench.

Batista made 8-of-11 shots en route to her 17 points, while dishing out four assists. Finn was 7-of-8 from the field, including 3-for-4 from three-point range, while handing out seven assists and grabbing six rebounds. Jane White came off the bench to score 11 points.

The Falcons scored the game's first 10 points and 18 of the first 20 points over the opening four and one-half minutes. Batista had eight of the points, while Finn had five, Jacqui Brugliera nailed a three-pointer and Christina Bakolas made a lay-up.

The teams traded points over the next five minutes as Bentley's lead bounced between 14 and 18 points and settling at 28-13 with 10:20 remaining. Junior guard Raven Short (Sterling, Va./Potomac Falls) and freshman guard/forward Maggie Brown (Cortland, N.Y./Cortland) had four and three points, respectively, in the span for the Dolphins, while Batista and White each had three points for the Falcons.

Bentley (18-0, 14-0 NE-10) followed with 17 of the next 24 points to take a 45-20 advantage with 1:32 left in the half. Six Falcons scored in the span, with Kelsey Roberson hitting a pair of three-pointers and Chrystal Guarin scoring four points. Price scored four of Le Moyne's seven points in the span.

Sophomore guard Alex Marple (Wellsboro, Pa./Wellsboro) made two free throws with 1:05 left in the half to pull the Dolphins within 45-22 at the intermission.

The Dolphins scored the first five points of the second half on a lay-up by Brown and a three-pointer by sophomore forward Tessa Pucello (Syracuse, N.Y./Solvay) to cut their deficit to 45-27, but the Falcons responded with 16 straight points in a span of 4:10. Finn had eight of the points, Battista added six points and Tyler Parker Kimball had a put-back lay-up.

Following back-to-back three-pointers by sophomore forward Emily Greer (Corry, Pa./Corry) and sophomore guard Maddie Hahesy (Erie, Pa./McDowell) to make the score 66-38, Bentley rattled off 16 of the next 22 points to take its largest lead of the game. White made a pair of three-pointers, Finn made two fast-break lay-ups, Kimball had two lay-ups and Bakolas made a lay-up.

Freshman guard Lauren Salzbrenner (Sheboygan, Wis./Sheboygan North) countered with a three-pointer and Price followed with a jumper to complete Le Moyne's scoring. Carlene Kluge closed out the game's scoring with a free throw with 42 seconds left.

Le Moyne (5-13, 3-11 NE-10) wraps up non-division play on Saturday at home against Saint Michael's College at 1:00 p.m.
