WOMEN’S BASKETBALL RALLIES FOR 57-48 VICTORY AT SAINT ANSELM

Manchester, N.H. – Freshman forward Lauren Price (Humble, Texas/Atascocita) scored 13 points in the second half as the Le Moyne College women's basketball team rallied for a 57-48 win over Saint Anselm College on Saturday afternoon in Northeast-10 Conference action at Stoutenburgh Gymnasium.

Price finished the contest 5-of-7 from the field, including her first career three-pointer, while adding three rebounds to her career-best point total. Sophomore forward Emily Greer (Corry, Pa./Corry) registered 13 points and nine rebounds, while senior guard Torie Lee (Fayetteville, N.Y./Fayetteville-Manlius) scored 12 points, 10 of which came in the first half.

Raquel Johnson was the only Hawk in double figures with 14 points.

Saint Anselm (4-13, 1-12 NE-10) opened the second half with the first six points to extend its lead to 14 with 18:22 remaining. Briana Jones and Johnson made lay-ups and then Johnson converted a pair of free throws.

Following four points from each team over the next four and one-half minutes, the Dolphins rattled off eight straight points and 24 of the next 26 points to take an eight-point lead. In the 8-0 spurt that covered four minutes and five seconds, Greer made a lay-up, junior guard Ashley Prischak (Erie, Pa./Villa Marie Academy) nailed a three-pointer from the left wing, freshman guard/forward Maggie Brown (Cortland, N.Y./Cortland) converted a free throw and then junior guard Raven Short (Sterling, Va./Potomac Falls) had a put-back lay-up with 9:32 left.

Johnson made a lay-up to end the spurt, but Le Moyne followed with 16 straight points over the next 6:07. Price started the run with a three-pointer and a jumper, Lee followed with a lay-up and then Greer gave the Dolphins their first lead since 2-0 with a lay-up with 4:10 remaining. Greer added another lay-up 44 seconds later, Price followed with a lay-up, junior guard Maddy McKnight (Springfield, Pa./Springfield) knocked down a jumper and then Prischak capped the streak with a free throw.

Saint Anselm, which made two field goals in the first 47 seconds of the second half, but only made two more in the last 19:13, had its scoring drought of 6:49 snapped with two free throws from Johnson with 23 seconds left. Le Moyne put the game away with one free from sophomore forward Tessa Pucello (Syracuse, N.Y./Solvay) and two from Price in the last 22 seconds.

Greer scored the first points of the game with a lay-up at the 18:45 mark, but the Hawks followed with six straight points. Johnson made a pair of lay-ups and then Krista O'Gara converted a lay-up.

Following a three-pointer by Lee to pull the Dolphins within 11-9 with 11:22 to play, Mariah Wynn nailed back-to-back three-pointers to put the Hawks in front by eight.

The teams split the final 34 points of the half over the final 9:36, with Saint Anselm's lead bouncing between four and 11 points. Six Dolphins combined for their 17 points, led by seven points from Lee, while five Hawks accounted for their 17 points, led by seven points from Moore. McKnight ended the scoring in the half with a running jumper with four seconds left to pull the Dolphins within 34-26 at the intermission.

Le Moyne (5-12, 3-10 NE-10), which has won three straight meetings with the Hawks, returns to action on Tuesday at second-ranked and undefeated Bentley University at 5:30 p.m.
