Syracuse, N.Y. – Bianca Simmons scored 25 points to lead UMass Lowell to a 69-52 win over the Le Moyne College women's basketball team on Wednesday night in Northeast-10 Conference action at Ted Grant Court.

The Dolphins had three players score 12 points each in the setback. Freshman guard/forward Maggie Brown (Cortland, N.Y./Cortland) posted 12 points, seven rebounds and three steals, senior guard Torie Lee (Fayetteville, N.Y./Fayetteville-Manlius) recorded 12 points and five rebounds and sophomore guard Alex Marple (Wellsboro, Pa./Wellsboro) added 12 points off the bench.

Simmons, the nation's leading scorer across all three divisions, added six assists, five steals and four rebounds to her game-high point total. Ashley Rivera recorded 12 points, five assists and five steals for the River Hawks.

After the Dolphins took a 9-8 lead on a lay-up by sophomore forward Tessa Pucello (Syracuse, N.Y./Solvay) with 16:16 remaining in the first half, the River Hawks ratted off 25 of the next 31 points over a span of 12:11 to take their largest lead of the game with 2:00 left. Simmons led the outburst with 12 points, including a stretch of eight straight points over a span of 1:19, while Rivera and Sarah Bennett each added four points. Brown had four of Le Moyne's six points in the span.

Le Moyne scored the final eight points of the first half to pull within 34-23 at the intermission. Marple tallied six of the points, including a lay-up with five seconds left, while Brown had the other two points.

Following a jumper by Simmons that pushed UMass Lowell's lead to 36-23 33 seconds into the second half, the Dolphins scored eight of the next 10 points to trim their deficit to seven with 17:23 remaining. Lee made a lay-up, a three-pointer and a free throw in the stretch, while Brown had a fast-break lay-up.

The teams then traded runs over the next five and one-half minutes, with UMass Lowell's lead bouncing between eight and 12 points. Following a jumper by sophomore guard Maddie Hahesy (Erie, Pa./McDowell) that pulled the Dolphins within 45-37 with 11:51 left, Whitney Wilson made a lay-up and Rivera nailed a three-pointer to push UMass Lowell's lead to 13.

The Dolphins responded with seven straight points in a span of 61 seconds to pull within six, but could not get any closer. Brown started the run with two free throws, Lee followed with a jumper and then Hahesy drilled a three-pointer with 9:11 left to make the score 50-44.

After Simmons and Lee traded lay-ups, the River Hawks scored 17 of the next 21 points to put the game away. Simmons had the first five points of the streak, while Lauren Fiola had five of the last eight points. Pucello closed out the game's scoring with a lay-up with 19 seconds left.

Le Moyne (4-12, 2-10 NE-10), which won the previous two meetings with the River Hawks, returns to action on Saturday at Saint Anselm College at 1:30 p.m.
