WBB: SECOND HALF THREE-POINT BARRAGE LEADS DOLPHINS PAST SAINT MICHAEL'S 63-53

Colchester, Vt. - Senior guard Katie Dunn (Whippany, N.J./Morris Catholic/Holy Family) scored all 16 of her points in the second half to lead the Le Moyne College women's basketball team to a 63-53 Northeast-10 Conference win over Saint Michael's on Wednesday night at the Ross Sports Center.

Dunn, who connected on four three-pointers in a game for the fifth time this season, went 4-for-4 from behind the three-point line in the second half. With her fourth three-pointer of the game, Dunn moved into second place on the College's all-time list with 134 made three-pointers. Senior forward Vanessa Holden (Suffern, N.Y./Immaculate Heart (N.J.)) tallied 11 second-half points to tie Dunn for game-high scoring honors with 16 points. Junior forward Courtney Coryea (Mooers Forks, N.Y./Northeast Clinton) joined Dunn and Holden in double-figures with 14 points, a game-high nine rebounds and six blocks. Anna Florent led the Purple Knights with 14 points off the bench, while Michelle Otey posted 11 points.

Dunn, who misfired on four three-point attempts in the first half, followed a layup by junior guard Siobhan Shields (Mason, N.H./St. Bernard's Catholic Central) with three consecutive three-pointers over the opening 2:38 of the second half to give the Dolphins a nine point lead. Holden followed with her second three-pointer of the contest and a layup and Dunn drilled another shot from three-point range to give Le Moyne control of the game.

The two teams traded points over the final 15 minutes of the contest, with the Dolphins' lead fluctuating between eight and 11 points. Coryea tallied eight points in the stretch for the Dolphins, while sophomore guard Danielle Felice (Adams, N.Y./South Jefferson) tallied five points and Holden closed out the game with four foul shots in the final 35 seconds.

After almost three minutes to start the game, Holden made a fast-break layup off a feed from Dunn to break a scoreless tie. Following a basket by Coryea, the Purple Knights ran off a 9-2 streak to take the lead. Caitlin Quinn gave Saint Michael's the lead with a three-pointer at the 13:02 mark of the stanza. Meg O'Shea followed a jumper by Florent with a three-pointer to give the Purple Knights a team-high six point lead with just under nine minutes left.

The Dolphins closed the half on an 11-6 run over the final 8:28 to pull within a point at the intermission. Consecutive jumpers by Coryea and a three-pointer by Holden got the Dolphins to 16-15 with just under six minutes to go in the half. Florent and Otey hit baskets around a pair of foul shots by senior forward Latoya Anderson (Rochester, N.Y./Greece Arcadia/Genesee C.C.) and Felice made a shot clock-beating layup to close out the half.

Le Moyne (15-11, NE-10 12-9), which has won two straight and seven of its last nine games, closes out the regular season on Tuesday, Feb. 24 at Southern Connecticut State at 5:30 p.m. With the victory and a loss by Saint Rose, the Dolphins move into seventh place in the Northeast-10 Conference standings.
