WBB: DOLPHINS RALLY PAST #6 FRANKLIN PIERCE, 51-46, FOR MURPHY'S 100TH VICTORY

Rindge, N.H. - Senior guard Katie Dunn (Whippany, N.J./Morris Catholic/Holy Family) scored 14 points and forwards Vanessa Holden (Suffern, N.Y./Immaculate Heart (N.J.)) and Courtney Coryea (Mooers Forks, N.Y./Northeast Clinton) combined to make nine foul shots in the final minutes to lead the Le Moyne College women's basketball team to a 51-46 come-from-behind victory over #6 Franklin Pierce on Wednesday night at the FPU Fieldhouse. With the victory, ninth-year head coach Jeanne Murphy tallied her 100th victory as the Dolphins' head coach.

The Ravens, the defending Northeast Region champion, jumped out to a 9-2 lead over the opening four minutes of the contest. Forward Ashley Robinson made a jump-shot with 11:04 remaining in the first half to give Franklin Pierce a game-high 12-point advantage. Dunn broke a Le Moyne scoreless drought of 3:18 at the 10:41 mark with her first of two first-half three-pointers.

After a pair of made foul shots by junior All-American Johannah Leedham, Dunn drilled another three-pointer to ignite a 9-2 run to cut the Ravens' lead to four. Junior guard Megan Murphy (Clinton Corners, N.Y./Millbrook) came off the bench to hit consecutive three-pointers from the left wing to cap the streak. Franklin Pierce scored twice over the final 1:51 to take a 24-16 halftime lead.

Dunn hit a three-pointer to open the second half and Holden and Dunn converted consecutive baskets to cut their squad's deficit to a point. Following a three-pointer by Jennifer Leedham to end a 6:20 scoreless drought to open the second half for the Ravens, graduate student Jacquelin Precious (Fonthill, Ontario/Governor Simcoe/St. Peter's College) and Coryea made back-to-back field goals to tie the game at 27 apiece with 12:20 remaining.

Following a 30-second timeout by Franklin Pierce, Toby Martin connected on a three-pointer to give the Ravens the lead. Holden answered with a jumper and Precious drilled a three-pointer from the left wing to give the Dolphins their first lead since the opening minute of the game. Dunn converted a conventional three-point play with 8:16 remaining to give the Dolphins a team-high seven-point edge.

The Ravens were able to cut the Le Moyne lead down to a point with 2:54 remaining on a jumper by Vanessa Power, but senior guard Kathleen Gladstone (Cleveland, Ohio/Walsh Jesuit) hit a pull-up jumper in the lane and the tandem of Coryea and Holden went 9-for-10 from the foul line to close out the game.

The Dolphins, who are among teams receiving votes in the latest USA Today/ESPN/WBCA Division II National Rankings, registered their second consecutive victory over a nationally-ranked team. Dunn added four rebounds to her 14 points before fouling out with 3:05 remaining in the game. Coryea tallied nine points, three rebounds, three blocks and three steals, while Holden recorded eight points, six rebounds and two blocks. Johannah Leedham finished with a game-high 15 points and four blocks.
