LE MOYNE OPENS 33RD SEASON OF WOMEN’S BASKETBALL THIS WEEKEND WITH TWO GAMES AT GOLDEN BEAR CLASSIC.

SYRACUSE, NY – Le Moyne College women’s basketball coach Jeanne Murphy ’95 and the Dolphins open their season this weekend with a pair of games at the Kutztown University in the Golden Bear Classis. On Saturday, Le Moyne opens against Pitt-Johnstown at 1:00 PM. The ‘Phins return to the court the following day at 1:00 PM to square off against Slippery Rock.

In 2008-09, Le Moyne returns 11 letterwinners, including four starters, from last year's 15-13 squad. The Dolphins are led by junior all-conference selection Courtney Coryea (Mooers Forks, N.Y./Northeast Clinton). Coryea, named to the conference's Second Team as a sophomore, finished second on the team in scoring at 12.0 points per game and was the rebounding leader with 8.0 rebounds per game last season. Senior guard Kathleen Gladstone (Cleveland, Ohio/Walsh Jesuit) posted 10.6 points and 3.4 assists per game during her junior campaign, while senior forward Vanessa Holden (Suffern, N.Y./Immaculate Heart (N.J.) recorded 7.6 points and 6.0 rebounds per contest.

The Dolphins were selected to finish sixth in the Northeast-10 Conference preseason poll as voted on by the coaches.

Following the Golden Bear Classic this weekend, the Dolphins open their NE-10 schedule against St. Rose on Wednesday, November 19th at 5:30 PM. This game will be televised across New York State on Time Warner Sports. Also, the athletic department has designated this game as a ‘White Out’ as all in attendance are encouraged to support the Dolphins by wearing white. The first 1,000 fans on Wednesday will receive a FREE Le Moyne Dolphins t-shirt. Other promotional items will be distributed throughout the game. Tickets for the men’s and women’s doubleheader are only $5 for adults and $3 for youth (ages 12 and younger).
