LE MOYNE GRINDS OUT 4TH STRAIGHT VICTORY AGAINST SOUTHERN
NEW HAMPSHIRE.
MANCHESTER, NH – The Le Moyne College women’s
basketball team captured their fourth consecutive victory with a
57-56 victory over Southern New Hampshire. Led by Katie
Dunn’s 18 points off the bench, the Dolphins improve
to 14-11, 11-10 in the Northeast-10 Conference. Southern New
Hampshire falls to 11-14, 7-13 in conference play.
Freshman Danielle Felice got the Dolphins on the
board with the game’s first two points. Southern New
Hampshire would score 16 of the next 17 points to take a commanding
16-3 lead early in the first half. Le Moyne used Dunn’s 12
first half points and held the Penmen to 14 points from the field
over the final 14 minutes of the first period to pull within five
at 30-25 at the intermission.
Le Moyne would capture their first lead since the opening
minutes on a jumper by junior Kathleen Gladstone.
The Dolphin lead would grow to as many as 11 at 51-40 on a lay-up
from Courtney Coryea with 9:55 remaining in the
game. The Penmen would chip away at the Dolphin lead and pull
within one at 55-54 on a 3-pointer by Stephanie Houghton with :20
remaining. Free-throws down the stretch by Coryea sealed the
victory for the Dolphins.
Gladstone and Vanessa Holden joined Dunn in
double-figures with 12 and 11 points respectively. Holden also
added 10 rebound for her first double-double of the season.
Southern New Hampshire’s Julia Houghtaling added 18 for the
Penmen to tie Dunn for game-high honors.
With the victory, the Dolphins clinch a berth in the Northeast-10
Conference Tournament. Le Moyne closes out the regular season on
Saturday, February 23rd when they travel to take on Pace at 1:30
PM.
