LE MOYNE EARNS ROAD VICTORY OVER ST. MICHAEL’S AS
FOUR DOLPHINS REACH DOUBLE FIGURES.
COLCHESTER, VT – The Le Moyne College women’s
basketball team traveled to St. Michael’s on Wednesday
evening and walked away with a 63-56 victory over the Purple
Knights. With the win, the Dolphins improve to 10-10 overall, 7-9
in the Northeast-10. In defeat, St. Michael’s falls to 11-8,
7-7 in the NE-10.
Connecting on four 3-pointers and just shy of half their field
goals, the Dolphins raced out to a 29-24 first half lead.
The Purple Knights would pull within one point on three occasions
in the second half, but were unable to take the lead from the
Dolphins. With a one point lead at 49-48, the Dolphins would finish
the game on a 14-8 run over the final five minutes to secure the
victory.
The Dolphins were led by junior Vanessa Holden as she scored a
game-high 14 points and nine rebounds. Katie Dunn added 12 points
as she netted three baskets from beyond the arc. Freshman Brandy
Wangelin added 11 points off the Dolphins bench and Courtney Coryea
scored 10 points and blocked six shots from the frontcourt.
Michelle Otey was the lone Purple Knight in double figures as she
recorded 12 points on 6-of-12 shooting.
With the win, the Dolphins avenge an earlier home loss on December
8th to St. Michael’s as the Purple Knights captured a 59-52
victory at Ted Grant Court.
Le Moyne returns to action on Saturday, February 2nd as they host
Stonehill at Ted Grant Court.
