LE MOYNE WOMENS BASKETBALL FALLS SHORT TO MERRIMACK
61-50
NORTH ANDOVER, MA. –The Le Moyne Dolphins fell short
on the road today against the Merrimack Warriors 61-50 at Volpe
Gym. This brings Le Moyne to an overall record of 9-10 and 6-9 in
the Northeast-10 Conference. Le Moynes Vanessa Holden led the
Dolphins with 16 points. Both teams fought hard in the second half
scoring 31 points each. Merrimacks Amanda Shannon led the warriors,
scoring 20 points. This win brings the Warriors to 7-14 over all
and 3-12 in the Northeast-10 Conference
Merrimack started the game with a lay-up by Kara Borelli. With the
Dolphins holding a 4-2 lead early in the first half, the warriors
used a 9-0 run caped with a jumper by Sarah Benischek to turn it
around. A three pointer by Casey Miller with a minute fifty-two
left in the half brought the warriors up by 14 points. This brought
the score to 30-16.
The first half ended with Merrimack leading the game 30-19.
The second half was close with both teams scoring 31 points. Le
Moyne had a 9-0 run at the end of the second half trying to make a
comeback. Le Moynes Vanessa Holden and Kathleen Gladstone both had
10 points in the second half. Amanda Shannon had 16 for the
warriors.
Le Moyne will be traveling to play Saint Michael’s Wednesday
at 5:30.
