LE MOYNE RIDES SECOND-HALF COMEBACK IN 68-64 OVERTIME UPSET OF NO. 15 FRANKLIN PIERCE

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The Le Moyne College women's basketball team earned its first victory against a ranked opponent in five years, knocking off No. 15 Franklin Pierce, 68-64, in Northeast-10 Conference overtime action at Ted Grant Court. Four Dolphins reached double-figures in the scoring column, led by Katie Dunn's season-high 18 points. The Dolphins (8-8, 5-7 NE-10) held All-American and reigning Northeast-10 Conference Player of the Week Johannah Leedham to 13 points, tops for the Ravens (13-3, 8-3 NE-10).

Franklin Pierce, ranked No. 15 in the most recent USA TODAY/ESPN/WBCA Division II Top 25 Coaches' Poll, sprinted into halftime with a 30-24 advantage on the strength of five three-pointers and a 9-0 run to end the half. Le Moyne responded with stifling defense and four jumpers from beyond the arc in the second half. The Dolphins held the Ravens to a 26% shooting clip from the field on only six second-half baskets. Dunn scored 12 points in the second half, knocking down a pair of three-pointers and all four of her free throw attempts.

After Tori Ahrens sent the game into overtime with a put-back at the end of regulation, the Dolphins used five points from Courtney Coryea to score an 8-4 advantage in the final five minutes. The sophomore finished with 16 points, 10 boards, four blocks, four steals and three assists. Kathleen Gladstone and Vanessa Holden also tallied double-digits in the scoring column. Gladstone collected 11 points and Holden added 10 points and seven rebounds in the victory.

The Ravens hung around in the second half on the strength of 82% shooting (18-for-22) from the charity stripe. Leedham finished with 13 points, four rebounds and three steals for Franklin Pierce. Toby Martin added 12 points, Tori Ahrens scored nine and Jess McPherson accumulated 11 rebounds.

Le Moyne remains at Ted Grant Court for its next two Northeast-10 Conference affairs. The Dolphins host Bryant at 1 p.m. Saturday and St. Rose at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.
