LE MOYNE OPENS NEW YEAR WITH 53-40 VICTORY OVER CHEYNEY

CHEYNEY, PA - The Le Moyne College women's basketball team opened 2008 with a 53-40 victory over Cheyney on Wednesday. Winners of three of their last four games, Le Moyne moves over .500 mark to 6-5, 3-4 in NE-10 action. Cheyney falls to 1-8 on the year. Jacquelin Precious led the Dolphins with 11 points as she connected on three 3-pointers.

Le Moyne built a ten point lead midway through the first half as the Dolphins shot just under 60% (16-27) from the field during the first 20 minutes and connected on four of seven attempts from beyond the arc. The Dolphins would cool off in the second half, but the solid defensive effort shut the door on the Wolves. Cheyney was held under 25% (15-63) for the game from the field, including 1-16 from three.

Precious was the only player in double figures for either team. Katie Dunn added nine points off the bench and Courtney Coryea chiped in with eight points and eight rebounds. In her first action of the season, Kathleen Gladstone added four points and six rebounds for the Dolphins.

Le Moyne returns to action on Saturday, January 5th as the Dolphins host Assumption in Northeast-10 Conference action. Tip off at Ted Grant Court is set for 1:00 PM.
