DOLPHINS FALL SHORT AGAINST ST. MICHAEL’S, 59-52;
CORYEA PULLS DOWN CAREER HIGH 15 REBOUNDS
SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Le Moyne women’s basketball team
dropped their fourth consecutive game and fell to 3-4 on the season
and 2-4 in the Northeast-10 Conference with a 59-52 loss to St.
Michael’s Saturday afternoon.
The Purple Knights (6-3, 4-2 NE-10) were led by Michelle Otey with
game-high 19 points. For the Dolphins, Jacquelin Precious led the
way with 12 points. Courtney Coryea scored 11 points and pulled
down a career-high 15 rebounds. Senior Kim Wagoner netted 11 points
and picked up three steals for the Dolphins.
The Dolphins were plagued by turnovers and poor shooting the first
half, but battled to head into halftime only down four points at
23-19. St Michael’s would stretch the lead to 11 six minutes
onto the second period on a lay-up by Lyndsey Moore. A Precious
three-pointer and strong rebounding by Coryea and freshman Brandy
Wangelin would pull Le Moyne to within three points at 48-45. The
Purple Knights would pull away down the stretch to secure the seven
point victory.
Le Moyne returns to Ted Grant Court on Saturday to host AIC at 1:00
p.m.
