FIVE DOLPHINS REACH DOUBLE FIGURES AS LE MOYNE OPENS SEASON WITH 80-64 VICTORY OVER MERCYHURST

ERIE, Pa. – The Le Moyne College women’s basketball team used a scoring barrage from its starting five to upend Mercyhurst College, 80-67, in season-opening action at the Mercyhurst Athletic Center. The Dolphins (1-0, 0-0 NE-10) built an 18-point advantage at halftime, shooting 43.8% from the field, to pull away from the Lakers (1-1, 0-0 GLIAC). Kim Wagoner paced the Dolphins with 19 points and five assists while Courtney Coryea registered a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds.

Le Moyne raced to an early lead on the strength of a 24-8 run to open the game. The Dolphins’ starting five totaled 75 of the team’s 80 points for the game. Jacquelin Precious scored 15, Danielle Felice added 14 and Vanessa Holden netted 13 points. Le Moyne was nearly flawless from the free throw line, converting 21 of 23 attempts (91.3%).

Le Moyne travels to St. Rose on Tuesday for a 5:30 p.m. meeting in its first Northeast-10 Conference game of the season. The Dolphins open the home portion of their schedule with a Nov. 25 meeting against Southern New Hampshire slated for 1 p.m.
