DOLPHINS ADVANCE TO NE-10 QUARTERFINAL WITH 53-39 VICTORY OVER SOUTHERN NEW HAMPSHIRE.
SYRACUSE, NY -The Le Moyne College women's basketball team defeated Southern New Hampshire 53-39 in the first round of NE-10 action. This was the third meeting of the season between these clubs. The Dolphins defeated the Owls 60-58 at Ted Grant Court earlier in the season and defeated them at on the road 57-56. The Dolphins (15-12, 11-11 NE-10) will travel to New Hampshire on Tuesday March 4 to square off with Franklin Pierce. The Dolphins's Katie Dunn's 16 points led Le Moyne.
Kathleen Gladstone's lay-up to start the game opened an early 6-0 run for the Dolphins. Katie Dunn provided a spark off the bench connecting 3-3 beyond the arc. Dunn contributed 20 minutes collecting 16 points and exceptional all around defense. The Dolphins pushed their largest lead of the game (15 points) with 1:53 left in the first quarter after Dunn drained her third three-pointer of the half. The Owls made a small 6-0 run to close the 15 point gap to 9 at halftime.
Le Moyne controlled the tempo of the second half leading by more than nine the entire half. Courtney Coryea delivered a double-double for the Dolphins collecting 10 points and 14 rebounds.
The Dolphins will travel to Framklin Pierce Tuesday March 4 for second round NE-10 playoff action. Coach Jeanne Murphy's club has split with Franklin Pierce this season so far. Murphy's club lost 59-37on the road earlier in the season and defeated Franklin Pierce at home 68-64 in overtime.
