LE MOYNE WOMEN'S BASKETBALL HEADS DOWNSTATE TO MEET PACE IN FIRST ROUND OF NORTHEAST-10 CONFERENCE TOURNAMENT ON SUNDAY

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The Le Moyne College women's basketball team travels to Pace University in Pleasantville, N.Y. for its Northeast-10 Conference women's basketball tournament first round game on Sunday at 2 p.m. The sixth-seeded Setters (20-7) swept the season series with No. 11 seed Le Moyne (9-18).

Junior guard Kim Wagoner (Cicero, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse) leads the Dolphins into action this weekend. In Monday's setback at Southern New Hampshire, Wagoner became the program's 13th 1,000-point scorer. She has scored 1,008 points in 83 career games (12.1 ppg). Wagoner leads Le Moyne with 11.4 points per game this season. With senior guard Lindsay Carr (Bronx, N.Y./Preston) out for the season, Wagoner has taken over the primary ball-handling duties for Le Moyne.

Sophomore Katie Dunn (Whippany, N.J./Morris Catholic) joins Wagoner as a double figurer scorer this season. She has knocked down a team-high 52 3-pointers (34.2%) and is averaging 10.6 points per outing. Freshman Courtney Coryea (Mooers Forks, N.Y./Northeastern Clinton) is scoring 9.3 points per game and averaging a team-high 7.0 rebounds. Coryea has blocked 69 shots this season, second-most in the Northeast-10 Conference. Senior Lindsay Ellis (Fairport, N.Y./Fairport), who is scoring 4.3 points and grabbing 5.7 rebounds per game, ranks ninth all-time (six behind Mary Tofani '00) with 573 career rebounds. Sophomore Vanessa Holden (Suffern, N.Y./Immaculate Heart) is averaging 5.7 points and 3.9 rebounds per game.

Pace won decisively with an early run in the team's first meeting, but needed to rally late to upend the Dolphins earlier this month. Stephanie Klingele (Staten Island, N.Y.) scored 18 points and Ashley Wallace (Oswego, N.Y.) added 17 as Pace topped Le Moyne 78-44 on December 16 in Syracuse. The Setters used a 15-0 game-opening run to put away the Dolphins early. On February 7, Pace needed a late push to take a 58-53 victory. Wagoner scored 16 points and Dunn tallied 15 to lead Le Moyne in the scoring column. Pace used a 13-2 run to overcome a 42-32 deficit, but Le Moyne led late 53-52 on Dunn's 3-pointer with 1:48 remaining. Pace scored the final six points to sweep the season series.

Le Moyne is the 11th seed in the conference tournament for the second consecutive season. The Dolphins lost at Saint Rose last season 67-58. In seven trips to the league tournament, Le Moyne is 4-7 overall. The Dolphins deepest foray into the league tournament came in 2001-02 when sixth-seeded Le Moyne won three straight games before falling to top-seeded AIC in the tournament championship game. The Dolphins have lost in the opening round of their last three trips. Le Moyne has qualified for the league tournament in six of head coach Jeanne Dupree's '95 seven seasons at the helm.

The winner of Sunday's first round game travels to third-seeded American International for the conference quarterfinal round on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
