NO. 24 STONEHILL USES LATE SURGE TO TOP OFF LE MOYNE 68-43

EASTON, Mass. - Senior Kim Morast scored 19 points and recorded five steals to lead four players in double figures as 24th-ranked Stonehill topped Le Moyne 68-43 in a Northeast-10 Conference women's basketball game at Merkert Gymnasium. Sophomore Katie Dunn (Whippany, N.J./Morris Catholic) scored 13 points to pace Le Moyne (8-14, 4-13 Northeast-10) in the scoring column. The Dolphins saw their winning streak end at two, while Stonehill (17-5, 12-5 Northeast-10) has won two in a row.

After building a 26-20 halftime advantage, the host Skyhawks opened up a pair of eight point leads early after intermission only to see the visiting Dolphins (8-14, 4-13 Northeast-10) whittle that margin back to four (38-34) with 11:20 remaining.

Stonehill ended the game by scoring 30 of the final 39 points of the contest, including a key 22-3 run over an 8:21 stretch that turned the four point edge into a 23-point advantage at 60-37 with 3:29 to play, as the hosts led by as many as 27 points in the closing minutes of action.

Dunn was the lone Dolphin in double figures with 13 points (including four 3-pointers), while junior Kim Wagoner (Cicero, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse) and senior Lindsay Carr (Bronx, N.Y./Preston) added nine and eight points, respectively, for the visitors. Freshman Courtney Coryea (Mooers Forks, N.Y./Northeastern Clinton) grabbed a game-high nine rebounds for Le Moyne, which shot 36 percent from the field overall for the afternoon.

Morast, whose effort was two points shy of her career high, was joined in double figures by fellow senior Alisha Collins. Collins added 13 points and five boards in the triumph for the Skyhawks. Senior Tiffany Huggins added 10 points, seven rebounds, three assists and three steals for the hosts, who also received 10 points from freshman Megan Methven. Stonehill shot 47 percent from the floor, including a 54 percent effort in the second half alone, and held a 32-26 rebounding advantage while converting 24 Le Moyne turnovers into 16 points in posting its 15th victory in 20 series meetings between the two schools.

Le Moyne returns to action at Pace on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m.
