KIM WAGONER SCORES 21 POINTS AS LE MOYNE HOLDS OFF MERCYHURST 60-55

ERIE, Pa. - Junior Kim Wagoner (Cicero, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse) scored a game-high 21 points to lead Le Moyne to a 60-55 win over Mercyhurst in a non-conference women's basketball game at the Mercyhurst Athletic Center. The Dolphins (5-6) sweep the season home-and-home series with the Lakers (4-7) and snap a three-game losing streak.

Wagoner made 9-of-12 shots from the field overall and 2-of-4 from 3-point range. She also converted her only free throw attempt. Wagoner has scored 20 or more points three times in the first 11 games of the season and 12 times in her first three seasons at Le Moyne.

Senior Lindsay Carr (Bronx, N.Y./Preston) and sophomore Katie Dunn (Whippany, N.J./Morris Catholic) joined Wagoner in double figures with 11 points each. Carr hit 7-of-8 free throws and Dunn sank 5-of-8. Freshman Courtney Coryea (Mooers Forks, N.Y./Northeastern Clinton) grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds.

Le Moyne used a 19-8 spurt to close out the first half to take a 32-20 lead into the intermission. The hosts scored the first eight points of the second half to close within four points, but Le Moyne answered with eight straight of its own to push its lead back to 12 at 40-28 on Wagoner's conventional 3-point play with 12:43 remaining.

Mercyhurst methodically cut into Le Moyne's lead and had a chance to tie in the final minute. Lindsay Whipkey knocked down a pair of free throws to make it 57-55 with 37 seconds left. On the ensuing Le Moyne possession, Carr hit the first of two free throws to extend Le Moyne's lead to 58-55. Julie Anderson misfired on a game-tying 3-point attempt for Mercyhurst and Dunn sealed the win for Le Moyne with a pair of free throws with five seconds remaining.

Le Moyne returns to action on January 4 at home against LIU-C.W. Post.
